On the second day of our research assembly, inspired by our climate-neutral journey, we wove the question of energy futures and infrastructures into several aspects of our public program. We invited a climate activist for a roundtable discussion with antinuclear activists from Germany and Hungary to explore continuities in environmental struggles. We explored the question of energy futures and the challenges of the ‘green transition’ through a conversation with experts from both social and artistic fields. In an inspiring twist of events, just as Oxana Timofeeva was reflecting on the philosophical implications of the Dyson sphere and humanity’s desire for endless energy, a power failure occurred. It damaged the building’s electrical system and forced us to evacuate nGbK. An audience member, Takashi Arai, generously offered their studio as an alternative venue for our final conversation, which focused on energy infrastructures and degrowth. This unexpected adventure sparked curiosity among our audience. We collectively relocated and formed a circle, sitting on the floor of the studio, for an engaging and lively exchange.
