Challenge: Working with a host institution that has no climate-neutral protocols
SALT. CLAY. ROCK. was lucky to work with nGbK as a host for our climate neutral curatorial project. We initially wondered how much support we would get to for the climate neutrality of our project, but soon found out that Annette Maechtel, nGbK’s managing director, was on board. She suggested hiring Elie Peuvrel, who was already working at the organization, to now work as their and our Climate Officer. For nGbK and us, he would interface with the Zero Fund and bring us up to speed on climate neutral production. As an nGbK employee he was already familiar with its staff, and Annette provided him with top-down support. So we found that when we discussed our climate neutral needs with anyone at nGbK, they understood and were familiar with many of the methods or frameworks we employed to achieve our goals. Though nGbK had no climate neutral protocol, it was being actively developed in parallel with our project.
